Teresa Borasino (born in Lima; lives and works in Amsterdam) is a visual artist, designer and researcher. Her work balances upon the fertile edges between art and activism, the space between poetics and politics, and the radical engagement with social movements.
Since 2014, her practice centers on the struggle for climate justice. Together with other activists and artists, she develops new tools and forms of creative intervention to confront the system that causes the climate crisis and to create experiences that allow the audience to imagine alternative ways of being in this world.
In 2016, she co-founded Fossil Free Culture NL, a collective of artists and activists working to confront oil and gas sponsorship of public cultural institutions in the Netherlands. Through disobedient art, their goal is to dismantle the social acceptability of the fossil fuel industry. Following their interventions, the Van Gogh Museum and The Concertgebouw ended their sponsorship agreements with Shell in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
