Roots! is a program about the influence of literature on someone’s artistry. Six writers and makers, unconstrained by one particular nationality, will respond in column-format to questions such as: which forms of literature did you encounter as a child or a young adult? What was on your parents’ bookshelves? What was being read by others in your environment? Did you read books that correspond to your roots, or not? In what ways have these works shaped your voice as a creator? Within their own disciplines the speakers will interpret the theme, and recite a column, sometimes accompanied by images.

Then the guests will have a conversation: are there similarities? Do they recognize themselves in each other’s stories?
