During Gentrified Stories: Bricks don’t Define Me we will explore gentrification through the stories of writers living in the boroughs of the city, with writers and citizens from Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris. Writers from Amsterdam are Simone Zeefuik, Massih Hutak, Esra Seval Dede, they will share their story through a spoken column. Max Czollek will join and offer his perspective from Berlin.
They will share their experience of seeing the many shifts in their surroundings: the arrival of new neighbours and businesses, how they are affected by rental increases and more. Their reflections and questions on these demographic changes affecting them and their communities will give us a new perspective. The audience will experience how it is to live in these big gentrified cities through unique and personal stories that have their impact on all of us.
Programme is in English and Dutch. English translations of Dutch texts will be projected on a screen, the discussion will be held in English.
