Simone Zeefuik

Simone Zeefuik is writer and founder of various projects. Her home base is Amsterdam. Her work focuses on image use, representation, anti-Blackness, digital archives and members of Black communities forced into illegality in the Netherlands. She launched #RewriteTheInstitute in October 2016. Ever since, this multivoiced organically growing digital archive critiques the language used by Dutch institutions referring to Black people and their lives, cultures, traditions, histories, current realities and/or futures. The first digital archive she initiated appeared on twitter in 2013 with the #BlackNL. This hashtag was used to archive files, articles and interviews representing the lives and histories of Black communities in the Netherlands. Zeefuik was also co-initiator of #DecolonizeTheMuseum and #UndocumentedNL.
