Simone Dede Ayivi is a theatre director, performer, activist and author, based in Berlin. Her works play with established ways of seeing by breaking down and placing stereotypes into new contexts. Her work is typically read in relation to her own Afro-German biography and through the lenses of decolonization and afro-feminism. But also gentrification, urban space and solidarity movements play a big role in her latest works. She spoke for an initiative which generated an interactive online map (tearthisdown.com) on which places, streets and monuments all over Germany are listed, which are remembering colonial masters and slave traders.
