Saskia Pieterse is an assistent professor and postdoctoral researcher at Utrecht University, currently working in the fields of economic criticism and imagology. She received a Veni-grant for her current research project “Economic Tropes, National Identity and the Dutch Novel”.
She studied at Utrecht University (Dutch Studies) and obtained her PhD (with honors) at the University of Amsterdam in September 2008. In her thesis she analyzes the “Phonocentrism” in the oeuvre of the nineteenth-century Dutch writer Multatuli.
