Persis Bekkering is a writer, interested in the emotional landscape of the contemporary. Her recent publications include essays, art- and literary criticism and fiction. Her debut novel Een heldenleven, published in 2018, was shortlisted for the ANV Debutantenprijs.

Her second novel Exces (2021) was nominated for the BNG Bank Prize for Literature. An excerpt of Exces is published as a bilingual (EN/NL) novella by the Jan Van Eyck Academy Maastricht, titled Last Utopia. She teaches creative writing at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem. She reluctantly joined Instagram last year as @sad_girls_bureau.
