Joseph Jordan is an Afro-Surinamese teacher, writer and researcher. He is currently finishing his doctoral training at the Department of English at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Prior to his education at Vanderbilt he completed degrees in Education Studies, and English Language Teaching, Black Studies, and Postcolonial Studies. He has taught courses on representations of Africa; kinship in speculative fiction; rage, resentment and sexuality; the relationship between academic writing and political rhetoric; research methods and argumentation. In addition to his scholastic work he is expanding his professional practice with forays into the art world.
