Babs is a performer, theatre maker, writer and she teaches creative writing and performance. In 1999 she founded Palabras, a monthly stage for voor writers, poets in Paradiso Amsterdam. She was also involved in (founding) Africa in the Picture, Black Magic Woman Festival, Double Talk, Black to the Future, Liefde in de Stad and Black Inc.

She was artistic leader of Poetry Circle Nowhere till 2014.
