Anastasiia Liubchenko

Anastasiia Liubchenko (born January 5, 1988) is a theater maker, mime actor, and animator/painter, born and raised in Ukraine, and since 2010 residing in Amsterdam. In 2014, she graduated from the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) Theater School with a degree in Mime as a theater maker and performer.

She holds a Young Professionals Degree (2007) from the Pantomime department at Kyiv’s National College of Circus. She further studied in Kiev, obtaining a diploma in Animation Direction in 2011. In Ukraine, from 2007 to 2010, she pursued a master’s program at the Amsterdam MAPA (Moving Academy of Performing Arts).

In 2010, Anastasiia permanently settled in Amsterdam and began her studies in mime at the Theater School Amsterdam. She completed various internships and worked with companies like Orkater, Golden Palace, Maas Theater en Dans, Noord Nederland Toneel (NNT), and Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot.

Anastasiia has a strong visual orientation and from a young age, she was engaged in performing and painting. Her experience, background, and diverse education combine to make her a unique theater maker, blending mime, animation, and acrobatics into her work. This fusion results in a distinctive, recognizable, and colorful style filled with fantasy, offering space for intense emotions and a touch of dry, comedic humor. Anastasiia is evolving into a versatile theater maker who designs her own sets, is responsible for the content, and participates as a performer.

Thematically, she draws inspiration from her personal life in her work. Since her performances have little to no spoken language, her work is suitable for international audiences. Due to the absence of verbal communication, her thematic choices, and her distinct style, her work appeals to very young children and those who do not understand the Dutch language.
