Zus ‘n Zo organizes a reading club where the book “The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives” by Read My World 2023 curator Lola Shoneyin takes center stage. In a peaceful and comfortable setting, Shoneyin will read a few passages from her book and engage in discussions about the topics with host Mojdeh Feili and the audience.

You are warmly welcome! Anyone who has read the book, intends to read it, or is simply interested in the themes being discussed can join the Zus ‘n Zo reading club. You do not need to have read the book to attend this program.

The novel “The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives” examines patriarchal structures in Nigeria, where polyamory is a common form of love. These relationships place importance on fertility. Other themes that will be addressed include the significance of education for women’s emancipation and power dynamics within families.

Zus ‘n Zo is a literary platform for intersectional feminism that centers and makes accessible the work of women and non-binary individuals to a broad audience.
