In De Zieners, we follow the early years in London of the homeless Eritrean refugee Hannah, set against the backdrop of her temporary shelter in Kilburn and a small park in Bloomsbury, where she soon starts sleeping under a tree. In this new life, she discovers that she is not only defined by her country of origin or her status as a refugee, but that the deep, extremely intimate aspects of her life and sexuality are just as much a part of who she is.

De Zieners is a bold, urgent novel, a tour de force written in a single paragraph, unraveling the psychological and sexual lives of its characters in an extraordinary way.
