On Saturday, September 14, literary magazine Terras will present its new issue Magia/No magia: Mexico through the lenses of 26 female authors.

Since 2011, Tijdschrift Terras has been the place for new international literature. Together with a broad and diverse network of translators, the editorial team makes literature available in Dutch that was not previously accessible. Editions cover cross-border themes such as ‘New Land,’ ‘Jungle,’ or ‘Babel,’ have a geographical focus, or are united by a language area.

The issue on Mexican literature was compiled by guest editor Bernke Klein Zandvoort. Through the texts of 26 female writers, she aims to present a Mexico to the reader that bubbles, swirls, and flows. The issue is a battle cry without the sound of war drums, where the magical is intimately connected with the realistic, the scientific with the spiritual, and the raw with the grieving.

During this presentation, Bernke Klein Zandvoort will give a brief introduction to the issue, and translators will read from the works of several Mexican writers.
