Veronica Juliana Schmalz (°1997), aka @lajauneschreibmaschine, spent her childhood between Argentina and Sicily and now works as a researcher at KU Leuven in Belgium. Her multilingual poetry, weaving together up to six languages, reflects her multicultural identity and international experiences.

Active in the slam poetry scene, she also experiments with performing arts, word art and mixed media. Her work explores the search for home and identity, social struggle from a migration perspective, high sensitivity and liberation from clichés. When she’s not performing, you might find her somewhere in the world with her typewriter, creating multilingual poems for strangers as a way to connect and share her art.
