S’yo Yen is a Taiwanese-Dutch pianist, composer, and music teacher. His work moves between contemporary jazz and poetic structures, exploring how improvisation, language, and emotion can reinforce each other. He teaches jazz composition at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam and is a board member of the Chou Meng-Tieh Poetry Foundation in Taiwan. In his work, he strives for a dialogue between music and poetry, between silence and expression.
