Lin An Phoa

Lin An Phoa (1995) studied Linguistics and Multilingualism and worked for a time as a teacher of Dutch as a second language (NT2). She has since shifted her focus toward the creative dimensions of language. She writes poetry, performance texts, and reflections that magnify the points where society experiences tension and friction. In her work, she explores power dynamics, systemic inequality, loneliness, and self-care culture, examining how movement and change can be generated within rigid systems. Through poetry, conversation, and humor, she aims to make social issues tangible and relatable, fostering connection, compassion, and transformation.

Rooted in her practice as a spoken word artist, Lin An is primarily active on stage. She has performed at events and festivals including Mensen Zeggen Dingen, Crossing Border Festival, Meet Me At The Lighthouse Festival, and ILFU. Her writing has also appeared in print, including in De Revisor (2024), the anthology Stip op de Horizon (De Bezige Bij, 2024), and the collection Modelverhalen.

In addition to her work as a writer and performer, Lin An works as a host, moderator, and chair for various cultural and literary organizations and events, including Poetry International, Read My World, Oerol, Theater Bellevue, and Wintertuinfestival.

In 2019, Lin An participated in Poetry Circle, and in 2024 she took part in the Paris residency program of deBuren. She currently works as a programmer at Poetry Circle and is also part of the talent development program of Wintertuin.
