Kay Schuttel is an interdisciplinary artist and educator based in Amsterdam. She moves in between storytelling, poetry, and experimental music to explore the performativity of (online) presence. Through sonic- and text compositions she aims to resignify the use of language in relation to social media, beauty, and identity performance. Inspired by daily live (mediated) rituals, human communication, and interpersonal relationships, observed trough- and with an emphasize on the female gaze, she reveals hidden moments of vulnerability, connection, and disconnection. \
By selecting, juxtaposing, and transforming material from diverse (online and offline) sources, she creates performances that include live vocals, sound, and video to generate a sensorial experience. Schuttel has recently performed at BECUE, Brussels (BE), Rietveld Pavilion, Amsterdam (NL), Words of The page, Amsterdam (NL), Radion, Amsterdam (NL), Perdu, Amsterdam (NL), AU Jus, Brussels (BE), Experimentik, Berlin (DE) Hangar, Barcelona (ES), Estruch, Sabadell (ES), CTM /Transmediale Berlin (DE), Unsound, Krakow (Pl), OGR, Turin (IT), Homesession, Barcelona (ES) and Cripta747, Turin (IT).
