Eva Line de Boer makes theater. Her work is like an exploding head full of emojis, the veil fits well with the high stimulus density of our time. Her performances take place in the area between online and offline, fantasy and reality, death and life.
Eva graduated from the directing course of the Maastricht Theater Academy in 2014 and then completed the Masters in Theater. She developed her own work at Festival Cement, within the development process of PLAN Brabant and with a New Makers Scheme of the FPK. Since 2020, she has received structural subsidies with her own Euphoria foundation and makes co-productions with HNTjong & Het Zuidelijk Toneel. In addition to her own work, she has directed for Likeminds, Theater Bellevue, Zeelandia, Theater Group Carver, Marjolijn van Heemstra/Sadettin Kirmiziyüz and Berg&Bos, among others.
Eva received the Ton Lutz Award for the most promising graduation direction with Euphoria (Its Festival, 2014). She received the René Lobo Cane for Guts, Daring & Courage (Maastricht Theater Academy, 2014). In 2016 she won the BNG Bank Nieuwe Theatermakersprijs 2016 with This is all happening at the same time. And in 2019 she received the Charlotte Köhler Prize.
From 2025, Eva Line de Boer and Cheryl Moenen will form the new artistic management of Theater Group Suburbia in Almere. Suburbia was looking for a new artistic direction and Euphoria was looking for solid ground with a flexible foundation. “We wondered what ground could facilitate this wish,” said De Boer and Moenen. “A place where the structures have not yet rusted, which makes sustainable development possible? Flevoland! That is literally new ground where there is room for everyone’s perspective.” Almere is the fastest growing city in the Netherlands: young adult, capricious, full of ambition and moving on all fronts. In this city, which is full of contradictions, the new Suburbia looks for the spaces in between. Through performances, art installations and online projects, through the space that art offers, Suburbia will create (sometimes uncomfortable) encounters with the public.
