DARSAY is a spoken word artist and multidisciplinary maker from Rotterdam with Moluccan roots. In his work, he intertwines personal stories with collective histories, exploring themes of identity, diaspora, heritage, and the lasting impact of the colonial past. His texts move between poetry and performance, carried by rhythm, silence, and the power of the spoken word.
Drawing from his connection to Maluku and the broader Moluccan-Papuan community, DARSAY creates space for stories that often remain unheard. His spoken word explores the intersections of memory and future, loss and resilience, and individual experience and shared history.
On stage, he creates an intimate yet confrontational dialogue in which language serves not only as a means of storytelling, but also as a tool for connection. Through his work, DARSAY invites audiences to reflect on questions of origin, belonging, and the meaning of cultural identity in a constantly changing world.
