Theoresia Rumthe and Dorthea Wabiser (DEFE)
Two makers who work through language, land, and the question of who gets to carry the story. From Maluku and West Papua, they bring stories rooted in land, language, and community.
Theoresia explores how poetry does not only exist on paper, but in sound, in the body, and in space. Her work emerges in encounter: between voice and landscape, between people, generations, and memories. Through initiatives such as open-air performances and her literary platform in Ambon, she builds places where language can be shared and passed on.
DEFE is a writer, storyteller, and human rights defender. She works on the visibility and self-determination of West Papua and advocates for the rights of Indigenous communities and the protection of land and living environments. Central to her work is reclaiming narrative: who tells the story, and under what conditions?
